Exam season without the stacks of copies

A subject teacher in a CBSE or ICSE school can have several sections, each writing a unit test every few weeks, plus half-yearly and pre-board exams. That's hundreds of answer booklets per term, each needing step marking, comments, and totals entered into a mark sheet before results go to parents.

Classi is built for exactly this kind of paper: long-form, handwritten, with step marks and internal choices. It reads the booklets your students already write in. No OMR sheets, and no moving exams onto computers.

How it follows a CBSE or ICSE paper

Step marking by value point

Marks are awarded for each value point in your scheme, so a student who gets the method right but slips in the final step keeps the marks they earned. Marking is positive: marks are added for what is present, never deducted.

Half marks only where you allow them

Classi gives half marks only where the marking scheme explicitly provides for them, and whole marks everywhere else.

Internal choice and OR questions

Questions with an internal choice, and sections that say "attempt any four", are recognised from the question paper. Each student is marked on the option they actually answered.

Every section of the paper

MCQs and assertion–reason questions are checked directly against the answer key. Case-based and source-based questions are marked against their passage or data. Short answers, long answers, maps, diagrams and numericals are marked against your value points.

From scanned copies to a mark sheet

  1. Upload the question paper and marking scheme

Classi extracts every question, its marks and its internal choices. For a class test with no written scheme, it can draft one for the teacher to edit.

  2. Scan the answer booklets

Scan or photograph the booklets as they are. Each answer is matched to its question, including answers continued on extra sheets.

  3. Review and approve

Teachers see each handwritten answer next to the value points awarded or missed, and can change any mark before releasing it.

  4. Share results and feedback

Students get their marks with specific comments on what to improve. Teachers and coordinators see which questions and chapters the section struggled with.

Common questions

Can Classi check CBSE answer sheets?

Yes. Upload the question paper, your marking scheme and the scanned answer sheets. Classi marks value point by value point, handles internal choice, and gives half marks only where the scheme says so. Teachers review every mark before it is released.

Does it work for ICSE, ISC and state boards?

Yes. Classi marks against the scheme you supply, so the same process works for any board, and for a school's own internal tests.

Is Classi affiliated with CBSE or CISCE?

No. Classi is independent software that schools use for their own internal assessments. It is not used by or affiliated with any examination board.

Does it work for subjects other than maths and science?

Yes. Any subject with a written marking scheme can be checked, including English, social science and long-answer questions. If your students answer in a language other than English, ask us about it before you start.
