What Classi is, what it does with student work, and what a school should expect.
What is Classi?
Classi is an AI grading and assessment platform for schools, available at classi.app. Teachers upload student work — handwritten answer sheets, scanned papers or digital submissions — and Classi reads it, grades it against the teacher’s own rubric, writes individual feedback for each student, and turns the results into class-wide insights.
Can Classi grade handwritten answer sheets?
Yes. Handwritten and scanned papers are the primary use case. Classi splits a scanned paper into individual responses, matches each to the question it answers, and reads the handwriting including diagrams, figures and visual working rather than text alone.
Does Classi grade against our own rubric?
Yes. Teachers define the rubric and marking points, and Classi grades against that rather than a generic standard baked into the product. The same rubric is applied identically to every paper in the class.
Do teachers still review the grades before students see them?
Yes. Classi produces proposed marks and proposed feedback. Nothing is released to a student until a teacher has reviewed it. The review screen shows the student’s original answer next to the marking points awarded or withheld, so a teacher can see the reasoning and override any mark.
Which curricula and examination boards does Classi support?
Classi is board-agnostic, because it grades against the marking scheme the school supplies. It is used with CBSE, ICSE, IB, Cambridge, state board and school-internal assessments. If the marking scheme changes, the grading changes with it.
How long does grading take?
At The Riverside School in Ahmedabad, full class sets are graded in under five minutes on average. Grading a class of 30 and a class of 300 takes the same effort from the teacher.
What do teachers get besides the marks?
Every graded assignment feeds per-question and per-student analytics. Rather than a spreadsheet of totals, teachers and school leaders see which specific concepts a class has not understood, which students are struggling with which topics, and how that has changed since the previous assessment.
Can Classi help create assignments as well as grade them?
Yes. Teachers can generate questions for a subject and topic, optionally grounded in textbooks the school has added. Each generated question comes with an answer key, grading instructions and mark allocation that the teacher can edit before use.
